New Delhi – January 30, 2026 – The official in charge of managing the affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity met on Friday in the Indian capital, New Delhi, with the Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India. They reviewed Libyan-Indian relations and ways to enhance them in all fields, especially academic cooperation, scientific research, and health cooperation through activating previous agreements for training and qualifying medical, paramedical, and technical support personnel.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity stated that the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the second India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (IAFMM) set to begin its proceedings tomorrow, Saturday, addressed areas of cooperation in capacity-building programs, joint training, election management, and technical cooperation (ITEC), particularly in the fields of prosthetics, vocational training, humanitarian aid, and development.
The two sides also discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The Ministry added that the official in charge also reviewed developments in the political and security situation in Libya and the efforts being made by the Government of National Unity to strengthen and consolidate aspects of security and stability, which have played a significant role in attracting foreign investments to Libya, especially in the fields of energy, oil, and other vital sectors.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue bilateral coordination and consultation to achieve the common interests of the friendly Libyan and Indian peoples, according to the Ministry.
It was noted that this meeting is the first India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting to be hosted by India, witnessing Libya’s participation with a high-level delegation headed by the official in charge of managing the affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. All 22 Arab countries are participating at the level of foreign ministers, along with other ministers, ministers of state, and senior officials, in addition to the participation of the League of Arab States.
Preceding the Foreign Ministers’ meeting, the fourth Senior Officials’ Meeting of India and Arab countries was held on Friday.
This second meeting is being held after a ten-year hiatus, as the first meeting was held in 2016 in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
