Tripoli, February 4, 2026 – A member of the Presidential Council announced late Wednesday night his rejection of the method of political assassinations and of seizing demands through force and violence.
This came in a post published on his account on the X platform following the announcement by the political team of Saif al-Islam Muammar Gaddafi about his assassination in the city of Zintan.
He said in his post, “While we say no to political assassinations – no to seizing demands by force and using violence as a language and means, we emphasize that what Libya needs today is to move forward towards dialogue-based solutions, trusting that only constructive communication among all parties will lead us to the possible and awaited resolution of the nation’s crisis.”
With this post, he becomes the first official in the Libyan authorities to formally declare his rejection of political assassinations in the country, following the announcement of the killing of “Saif Gaddafi.”
Saif al-Islam Gaddafi’s political team had announced late Tuesday evening his assassination in the city of Zintan, calling for an “independent and transparent local and international investigation” to uncover the circumstances of the incident and identify those involved.
