Tripoli, January 24, 2026 – The South Tripoli Court of Appeal has sentenced a civil registry office employee in Al-Mamoura to imprisonment for forging family data that enabled foreigners to obtain national identification numbers.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office stated that the Public Prosecution filed two public lawsuits against an employee who mismanaged family restriction data at the Al-Mamoura Civil Registry Office. The employee intentionally forged family data, which allowed foreigners to obtain sixteen national numbers and gain rights derived from citizenship.
The South Tripoli Court of Appeal issued a verdict convicting the defendant, sentencing him to five years in prison in the first case and another five years in the second case.
The court also decided to deprive the accused of his civil rights for the duration of the ten-year sentence, plus an additional four years after its completion, and to revoke the national numbers issued based on the fraudulent act.
