Tripoli, December 19, 2025 – The European Union is the largest partner of the International Organization for Migration and its most consistent and supportive entity in Libya.
This was stated following a meeting with the Director-General of the International Organization for Migration, which concluded her first and important visit to the capital, Tripoli.
It was clarified that the meeting featured a constructive and open dialogue on ways to enhance joint cooperation to support Libyan institutions across the country, with the aim of managing migration and border issues effectively and humanely.
It was noted that the discussion focused on a number of priorities, including support for voluntary return programs, saving lives at sea and in the desert, dismantling smuggling networks, and expanding safe pathways.
