Brazilian international Savinho, Manchester City winger, has expressed his readiness for a new experience away from the Etihad Stadium, as speculation grows about his possible departure from the team during the current summer transfer window, with clear interest from Tottenham Hotspur in signing him.
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported that Savinho (22 years old) is one of the main targets for Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi, who is looking to strengthen his attacking options by bringing the Brazilian winger to Tottenham.
Savinho joined Manchester City from French club Troyes in July 2024, in a deal worth around £30 million (about $38 million), after a season on loan at Spanish side Girona, where he caught the eye with his impressive performances.
Tottenham had previously opened negotiations to sign the player last summer, but Manchester City refused to let him go at that time, before Savinho extended his contract with the English club until 2031.
The Brazilian winger enjoyed regular playing time under coach Pep Guardiola during his first season with the team, playing 48 matches in all competitions and scoring 3 goals, but his situation changed last season as his appearances dropped to just 36 matches, due to strong competition for the right-wing position.
It became even harder for Savinho to get a bigger role with the arrival of Frenchman Rayan Cherki from Olympique Lyonnais last summer, along with Ghanaian Antoine Semenyo joining Manchester City’s ranks at the start of this year from Bournemouth, which pushed the Brazilian player to consider looking for a new challenge that would guarantee him more playing time.
