The Central Bank of Libya is the official central bank of the State of Libya, established in 1955 after the country’s independence to manage monetary policy and oversee the banking system. Its main headquarters is located in the capital, Tripoli, and it plays a central role in issuing the Libyan currency (the Dinar) and managing financial reserves. The bank faced significant challenges during periods of political turmoil and division in the country after 2011.
