The newspaper “Sport” revealed that FC Barcelona has prepared a special program to support its young star Lamine Yamal during the holy month of Ramadan, in light of the physical challenges he will face due to fasting coinciding with a busy La Liga match schedule.
According to the report, Yamal will play four matches with Barcelona during Ramadan against Levante, Villarreal, Athletic Bilbao, and Sevilla. All matches will kick off at exactly 4:15 PM, hours before the iftar meal, as the sun sets in Spain between 6:30 and 7:00 PM during this period.
The biggest challenge lies in the player’s inability to eat or drink water throughout the match, which increases the risk of fatigue and dehydration, especially given his playing style that relies on speed, dribbling, and constant running.
A Comprehensive Medical and Nutritional Plan
Despite these challenges, Barcelona’s management confirmed they are not worried, given their previous experience in dealing with Muslim players during Ramadan, in addition to the moderate temperatures compared to summer.
The technical and medical staff, led by coach Hansi Flick, have developed a special program in coordination with the player. It includes adjusting training schedules and organizing his diet to align with fasting periods.
The plan relies on carefully distributing meals during the night hours, focusing on hydrating the body by drinking sufficient water before dawn, along with continuous monitoring of his physical condition to ensure he maintains his readiness.
Religious Commitment and Full Club Support
Lamine Yamal is one of the fundamental pillars of Barcelona’s squad this season. He demonstrated great maturity in handling the demands of fasting last season, and the club hopes his brilliance continues without affecting his performance.
This step confirms Barcelona’s commitment to providing full support for their young player, ensuring respect for his religious obligations while simultaneously maintaining his technical level during a crucial stage of the season.
