Milan police have revealed the dramatic conclusion of an armed robbery attempt carried out by a young man of Bangladeshi origin (24 years old) against a branch of “UniCredit” bank, where the secure vault transformed from a target of theft into a cell that held him inside for more than nine hours.
The incident began when video surveillance systems detected the movements of the suspect as he tried to break into safety deposit boxes, leading to an immediate security alert and the cordoning off of the site.
Security forces faced a technical obstacle while trying to extract the thief, which involved the vault keys being inside a box equipped with a programmed time lock that would not open before 8 a.m. the following day.
Fire Brigade Intervention
This situation required the intervention of a fire brigade team, which was forced to break into the facility to retrieve the keys and free the detained young man, who it turned out had exploited official working hours to sneak into the secured area before the door closed on him.
