The social media platform ‘X’ returned to service on Monday afternoon, following a temporary outage that prevented users in many countries from viewing posts.
The site resumed displaying content and allowing users to post and interact as usual around 15:30 GMT, after a monitoring site reported a sudden spike in outage reports approximately two hours earlier.
An internet connectivity monitoring organization stated that ‘X’ experienced “global disruptions,” confirming that this malfunction “is not related to country-level internet outages or blocking operations.”
Previous outages in ‘X’ service
The organization last reported outages in the ‘X’ service on February 9th, and prior to that on the 1st of the same month.
The platform, formerly known as ‘Twitter’, was acquired in 2022 in a deal valued at over $40 billion. Following the acquisition, thousands of employees were laid off, its name was changed, and it was later merged with the company xAI, the developer of the Grok AI chatbot.
