It was announced in the Mexican capital on Sunday that a film is being produced which aims, according to the announcement, to correct the “false” image that some paint of Mexico and to respond to attacks targeting the country.

The announcement was made at a public event to declare the Mexican government’s support for the film industry sector.

It was stated, “This project is especially important at a time when we are under moral attack and when our image is being portrayed in a completely wrong way,” without specifying the party behind this.

It was added that it is important to regain “control” of the narrative in order “to say, this is Mexico, not what they are trying to sell you. This is who we are.”
