The NOC stated that the signing formally makes it a member of the group of countries and entities operating under the supervision of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
It added that this move reflects the Corporation’s commitment to internationally adopted environmental conventions and treaties, strengthens UN efforts to curb emissions, and supports cooperation agreements with global companies, international organizations, the European Union, and the World Bank.
The agreement is part of the NOC’s efforts to reduce emissions and gas flaring, and to enhance international cooperation to improve performance and protect the environment.
