Tripoli, February 9, 2026 – The Minister of Interior of the Government of National Unity discussed with the Italian Minister of Interior ways to enhance security cooperation between the two countries. The meeting was attended by a number of ministry officials and the delegation accompanying the Italian minister.

The meeting addressed ways to strengthen joint cooperation between the two countries in border security and combating irregular migration, discussing issues of mutual interest, and exchanging expertise and experiences to enhance stability and security.

The two sides emphasized the importance of developing joint cooperation mechanisms and enhancing continuous coordination between the two interior ministries to achieve common strategic goals.

Earlier on Monday, the Minister had received the Italian Minister of Interior upon his arrival in Tripoli for an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
