Tripoli, February 6, 2026 – The High National Elections Commission intends to organize an international scientific conference on February 11 and 12 of this month on “Issues of Abstention from Participation in Libyan Elections.”
The Commission explained in a statement that the conference, organized in Tripoli in cooperation with the Libyan Academy for Graduate Studies and with the participation of the United Nations team supporting elections in Libya, will discuss the challenges facing electoral participation in Libya and present scientific and strategic solutions to strengthen the democratic path in the country.
It clarified that the conference comes within the framework of the Commission’s efforts to promote a culture of political participation and reduce voter abstention by exchanging experiences, researching the causes of low participation, and proposing practical solutions to address them.
Tripoli
