The US House of Representatives passed a budget bill on Tuesday, putting an end to more than three days of a government shutdown that affected part of the federal administration.

This will formally end the shutdown that began on Saturday, stemming from divisions between Republicans and Democrats over funding for immigration enforcement, following recent events in the city of Minneapolis.

On Monday, US President Donald Trump urged Congress to expedite the approval of a spending bill to end a government shutdown in the United States, which entered its third day on Monday.

A partial government shutdown enters its third day
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated, “I hope all Republicans and Democrats will join me in supporting this bill and send it to my desk without delay. No amendments can be made at this time.”

President Donald Trump’s move came amid a partial government shutdown entering its third day, resulting from Congress’s failure to reach a consensus on the federal spending bill. This led to a halt in funding for a number of non-essential government institutions and agencies. The shutdown reflects the intense polarization between Republicans and Democrats over spending priorities, the size of the fiscal deficit, and contentious issues related to immigration, defense, and social programs.

The government shutdown is a recurring political pressure tool in Washington, used by each side to push the other into making concessions. However, its repercussions quickly extend to the economy and public services, with hundreds of thousands of federal employees having their work suspended or being forced to work without pay.
