Mercedes is preparing to reaffirm its leadership in the luxury and high-performance car market by launching a modified version of the S-Class within a few weeks.
It has been stated: “Mercedes has invested enormous sums in updating the new S-Class model, equipped with an internal combustion engine, far more than we typically spend on facelift operations.”
This explains how over 50% of the enhanced S-Class’s 2,700 components are either new or have been re-engineered.
Car Design
The modified version is expected to feature a new front grille design, front lighting that integrates with the three-point star motif, as well as updated rear lighting and wheel designs.
The enhanced version will come with the latest iteration of the company’s MBUX infotainment system, running on the new MB.OS operating system, referred to as the car’s “super brain,” designed to provide a more intuitive and personalized customer experience.
Car Engine
The enhanced S-Class is equipped with a V8 engine producing 530 horsepower and 750 Newton-meters of torque. Internal improvements include a flat crankshaft, turbocharger covers, and an enhanced injection system to make the engine more responsive, precise, and efficient, while the mild hybrid assist system enables extremely smooth start-stop functionality.
The mild hybrid technology also supports the engine by providing a slight boost and recovering energy during deceleration. Mercedes is preparing to launch a plug-in hybrid version, the S 580 e, capable of traveling over 60 miles in electric driving mode.
The S 450 4MATIC variant will be available with a six-cylinder gasoline engine, featuring an “over-torque” function to assist during strong acceleration or overtaking.
Among other enhancements is the new intelligent damping control function for the air suspension system. It uses aggregated data from other Mercedes vehicles to anticipate potholes, bumps, and other road imperfections, increasing damping up to ten meters before larger defects appear to maintain luxurious ride comfort. The driver is also alerted to minor road imperfections via the navigation system or an audible warning.
