Tripoli, January 31, 2026 – The General Authority for Hajj and Umrah Affairs organized its fourth scientific symposium today, Saturday, under the title “Hajj: Faith and Unity.” This event is part of its contribution to enhancing the scientific, intellectual, and awareness-building structure of society.
In a statement, it was said that the fourth scientific symposium organized by the Authority comes within the preparations for the launch of the Hajj season and emphasizes that Hajj embodies the faith of Muslims through all their movements and devotional rituals.
It was clarified that the symposium witnesses the participation of a number of researchers from various universities and research centers across Libya. It discusses scientific papers addressing a range of issues related to Hajj, contributing to the development of scientific recommendations to be relied upon in preparing and arranging Hajj affairs.
The symposium addressed three main themes. The first theme focused on Hajj, its creedal purposes, and its ritual meanings, including the legislative obligations of Hajj and their impact on consolidating the belief in monotheism, the spiritual and behavioral meanings of Hajj, and the significance of the sacred sites and rituals.
The second theme was titled “Hajj: A Picture of Unity and a Unifying Symbol for the Islamic Nation.” It addressed the unity of Muslims despite the diversity of races and cultures, the challenges facing this unity during Hajj seasons, as well as issues of religious edicts and the diversity of jurisprudential opinions in light of modern technologies and software.
The third theme was dedicated to the social aspects of Hajj and their role in promoting solidarity among Muslims, the role of pilgrims as ambassadors of their countries in strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and unity, in addition to the customs and traditions associated with Hajj and their social significance, and the educational foundations of Hajj and their reflection on the behavior of the pilgrim, his family, and his community.
The symposium aims to highlight the creedal purposes of Hajj and its ritual meanings, promote the concept of Islamic unity through its practical manifestations during the Hajj season, and demonstrate the social dimensions of Hajj and their impact on society.
The proceedings of the symposium were attended by the head of the General Authority for Hajj and Umrah Affairs, the deputy head, and a number of university professors and researchers specializing in the fields of culture and Islamic affairs.
