The Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources announced that trade volume between Turkey and Libya reached approximately $4.4 billion in 2025, noting that 2026 will be “the year of energy” in bilateral cooperation.

Speaking in Tripoli on Saturday, on the sidelines of the 22nd session of the Turkish-Libyan Joint Economic Committee and the Libya Energy and Economy Summit, the Minister stressed the significance of the committee’s return after a 17-year hiatus.

It was explained that the Joint Economic Committee covers all sectors of the economy, not only energy, but also transport, health, education, trade, and other fields, with the reactivation of the committee described as an important and historic step.

Turkey

Turkey is a transcontinental nation bridging Europe and Asia, with a rich history as the heart of the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires. Its cultural landscape is defined by iconic sites like the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, which has served as a cathedral, mosque, and museum, reflecting the country’s layered historical and religious heritage.

Libya

Tripoli

Tripoli is the capital and largest city of Libya, with a history dating back to the 7th century BC when it was founded by the Phoenicians. It later became a significant part of the Roman Empire and the Ottoman Empire, with its old town, the Medina, showcasing a rich blend of architectural and cultural influences from these periods.
