Tunis, January 26, 2026 – The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Libya met on Monday in the Tunisian capital with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Libya.

The UN mission in Libya stated that the Special Representative briefed the Emirati Ambassador on the progress in implementing the roadmap and on the recently launched structured dialogue.

The envoy emphasized the importance of member states supporting and encouraging the recommendations issued by this dialogue, considering them a fundamental element of the UN Support Mission in Libya’s roadmap.

The meeting confirmed the importance of international coordination to support the Libyan political track, contributing to achieving stability and advancing the political process in Libya forward.

Its mandate is to assist Libya’s transitional authorities in post-conflict stabilization, including supporting political dialogue, constitution-making, and the organization of elections.
