A financial analyst stated that we must distinguish between taxes as a fiscal policy and the exchange rate as a result of monetary policy. We cannot say that imposing taxes is better or worse. That is the first point.
He continued: Secondly, determining the exchange rate depends on standard analytical results based on data related to certain economic variables, such as the balance of payments, interest rates, inflation rates, etc.
He added: Unfortunately, and I say this honestly here, the central bank has lost all these tools under this terrible division and amidst this unprecedented consumer spending. So what can the central bank do under these conditions? I swear, even if Jerome Powell, the Chairman of the Federal Reserve himself, were appointed as the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya under these conditions, I swear he would flee, scream, and say: Get your hands off my business!
He concluded his statement by saying: It is more appropriate for the House of Representatives to unify the two governments, adopt a single, rational spending budget, move away from regionalism and the logic of “my share and your share,” and choose honest and clean national competence. Only then will we find solutions and the will to reform our economic situation and improve the exchange rate, through a scientific alignment between our monetary, fiscal, and trade policies. So do not ask for the impossible from the central bank or anyone else under this chaos, corruption, and division!!
