Tripoli, January 21, 2026 – The Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army met in his office this Wednesday morning with both the Director of Security Sector Reform and the Head of the Security Institutions Department of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya. The meeting took place within the framework of cooperation and consultation to enhance the security and military track and achieve comprehensive stability in Libya.

The General Staff stated via its official page that the meeting reviewed the efforts of the UN Mission in overseeing the “Structured Dialogue” on its security aspect, alongside international efforts supporting the unification of the military institution, and ways to coordinate on national programs related to enhancing border security.

The General Staff quoted the Chief of Staff as confirming during the meeting full support for national and international efforts aimed at strengthening and stabilizing border security, his support for the security track and dialogue initiatives under UN auspices, and the commitment to moving forward with cooperation in unifying the military institution.
