Platform X, formerly known as Twitter, experienced a widespread technical outage, causing the site and app to stop working for a large number of users around the world.
Users reported that the platform failed to load at all, displaying blank screens upon attempting to access it, while others saw error messages from the company “Cloudflare.”
However, initial indications clarified that the malfunction originated from X itself, and was not the result of technical problems with Cloudflare’s services.
Unlike previous outages that showed the site without content, the current failure prevented the platform from loading entirely via the website and smartphone applications.
The website “Down Detector,” which specializes in tracking technical outages, recorded a sharp spike in reports around 3:00 PM UK time, 10:00 AM US Eastern Time, indicating a simultaneous and global-scale disruption.
Platform X does not provide a public page to display system status or outage updates, while its associated developer platform status page, during the outage, showed that “all systems are operational.”
This disruption comes just days after another technical failure hit the platform, amid growing criticism targeting X, particularly concerning its “Grok” chatbot, which has been accused of producing violent and offensive content.
Since the acquisition of Twitter in 2022, widespread concerns have been raised that staff reductions could affect the platform’s stability. Although X has continued to operate during this period, it has experienced intermittent technical failures from time to time.
