Alpine is preparing to launch a convertible version of the second-generation A110 sports car, to be named the “Spider.” It will be fully electric and based entirely on the new APP platform.
Car Launch Date
The fixed-roof A110 is expected to debut for the first time at the Paris Motor Show this year, with sales starting in 2027. The Spider version is expected to be launched approximately 12 months later.
The Spider will be equipped with a rear-wheel-drive system similar to the coupe version, with the possibility of an all-wheel-drive version being introduced in the future.
Car Price
The current Alpine A110 with a gasoline engine starts from £55,000 and can reach up to £100,000 for the “R” models. The electric version will start at a higher price, as will the Spider, at around £70,000.
Car Design
It was stated: “Convertible models have been an integral part of the Alpine APP modular platform plan from the beginning. The platform was designed not only to accommodate a fixed convertible roof but also to provide the necessary rigidity to enhance the driving experience and comply with safety regulations in Europe and elsewhere.”
It was added: “We are technically preparing the car for the American market.”
It was further explained: “Even if we ultimately do not enter the American market, I want us to be prepared in case we make that decision. We decided to implement most of the modifications on the coupe model, as well as on the Spider model. This includes the reinforced front protection structure and doors, to reduce costs.”
Alpine A110 Spider
The Alpine A110 Spider is a modern convertible sports car produced by the French manufacturer Alpine, which draws its heritage from the iconic Alpine A110 of the 1960s and 1970s. The original model was a highly successful rally car, winning the inaugural World Rally Championship in 1973.
