In an interview published on Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that he rejected a pardon request from the famous rapper P. Diddy, who is serving a prison sentence of four years and two months for sexual assault.
The singer and businessman, whose real name is Sean Combs, was sentenced last October to 50 months in prison for transporting individuals for prostitution purposes and was fined $500,000. His lawyers have appealed the conviction and sentence issued in July after a two-month trial.
Trump said in an interview on Wednesday, “He asked me for a pardon in a letter.”
Most Serious Charges Dropped
Trump asked the journalists if they wanted to see the letter, but he did not show it to them, and said he does not intend to grant the singer’s request without explaining the reason for his decision.
