Sirte – January 09, 2026 – Final preparations are underway in the city of Sirte for the opening of the new Courts and Prosecutions Complex, ahead of the commencement of judicial work there starting next Sunday. This is part of efforts to support the judicial authority’s infrastructure and improve the working environment within judicial institutions.
It was confirmed that the opening of the Courts and Prosecutions Complex represents a new achievement for the judicial apparatus in Sirte, carried out under the supervision of the Office of the Attorney General. Judicial work will officially commence at the complex starting next Sunday.
It was clarified that the opening ceremony will be attended by the head and members of the Supreme Judicial Council, and will include the inauguration of the Sirte Court of Appeal alongside the Sirte Courts and Prosecutions Complex.
The fully equipped Sirte Courts and Prosecutions Complex building contains 56 administrative offices distributed across two floors, including 25 administrative offices designated for the Sirte Primary Court.
The building also houses two courtrooms affiliated with the Sirte Primary Court. The first courtroom is located on the first floor and has a capacity of 30 seats, being fully equipped. The second courtroom is on the second floor with a capacity of 50 seats, in addition to a side deliberation room.
The complex also includes designated waiting halls for visitors, which contributes to organizing work and facilitating litigation procedures.
The second floor of the new judicial complex houses the office of the President of the Sirte Primary Court, which is fully equipped, followed by a meeting room, alongside an administrative office for the head of the court’s office director.
The Sirte Primary Court oversees four partial courts: the Sirte Partial Court, the Bin Jawad Partial Court, the Abu Najim Partial Court, and the Al-Hayshah Partial Court.
During an inspection tour of the building prior to the official opening, it was observed that the maintenance and preparation works were executed with a high level of quality and efficiency, completed by a company commissioned by the Office of the Attorney General.
