The Chinese brand “X-Ping” relies on electric vehicles to build its fleet, focusing on its best-selling “X 9” model in the large vehicle category.
The company is now moving towards a significant achievement by abandoning the use of pure electric power and transitioning to a range extender. This is a backup system, often a small internal combustion engine and generator, that automatically charges the battery when its power is low, extending the driving range without the need to stop for charging. It differs from hybrid vehicles, as the combustion engine does not participate in direct propulsion; its role is limited to generating electricity for the battery only.
During the launch of the new version of the “X 9,” it was stated: “This step is a milestone for the company (X-Ping), reflecting the growing demand for range extenders in China, where sales increased by 3.6% in the first ten months of 2025.”
The potential launch of the vehicle in the European and British markets reflects a return to large vehicles that seat six or eight people, to compete with models in the same category such as the “Lexus LM,” “Volvo,” and the famous “Volkswagen Multivan.”
Vehicle Design
“X-Ping” has given its new system the title “Super Range Extender,” which combines an 800-volt engineering architecture with a 63.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and a 1.5-liter gasoline engine.
Vehicle Powertrain
In this system, the vehicle can travel 267 miles on electric power alone, with a total range reaching 995 miles. Thanks to its ultra-fast “C 5” batteries, it can be charged from 10% to 80% in less than 12 minutes using a super-fast charger.
The new “X 9” vehicle is 5316 mm long, with a wheelbase of 3160 mm. It is available in China in a seven-seat version, or a more luxurious six-seat version equipped with business-class-style reclining seats.
Electric sliding doors provide easy access. The vehicle features a high level of comfort and technology, along with a luxurious interior design, high-quality materials, and ample trunk space that can accommodate several suitcases when all seats are in use.
It was reported that any launch in the British market would initially focus on chauffeur services or transportation services.
In China, the price of the new “X 9” starts from less than £33,000, but prices for Britain or Europe have not been announced yet.
