The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced that the management of the Grand Egyptian Museum has detected three fraudulent websites selling and booking entry and visit tickets for the museum without any official affiliation. It confirmed the initiation of necessary legal procedures to shut down these sites and hold those responsible accountable.
The Ministry clarified, in an official statement, that as part of ongoing and periodic monitoring of internet content, websites claiming affiliation with the museum and misleading potential visitors have been identified. These are:
https://visit.grandegms.com/TourTkt
https://grand-egyptian-museum.cairo-tickets.com
In addition to unofficial applications on the Google Play store bearing the museum’s name.
The museum’s management confirmed that these sites “have no connection to the Grand Egyptian Museum” and aim to “financially and morally exploit citizens and visitors.” It stressed that the sole official and approved website for purchasing museum visit tickets is: “www.visit-gem.com”.
– The Grand Egyptian Museum adopts a full electronic booking system starting December 1st.
– The Grand Egyptian Museum welcomes its visitors today with ‘Generation Z’ technology.
This warning comes within the framework of the Grand Egyptian Museum’s commitment to preserving its status as one of the most important cultural, civilizational, and tourist landmarks globally, and to protecting its visitors’ rights from any attempts at fraud or deception.
Monitoring any similar attempts
The museum’s management also appealed to internet users and social media visitors to “exercise caution and avoid dealing with any websites or electronic platforms other than the official approved site,” confirming its continued monitoring of any similar attempts and taking necessary legal actions against them.
The Ministry emphasized the importance of verifying accuracy before completing online purchases and not following unreliable advertisements, to ensure the safety of visitors and guarantee a secure and organized visit experience to the Grand Egyptian Museum.
