
Tripoli, January 5, 2025 – The Public Prosecution has ordered the detention of three officials from the National Locust Control Committee after they accepted the receipt of 2,000 liters of pesticide that had expired in 2007.
The statement from the Public Prosecutor’s office said that the three employees violated the requirements of the public interest and received the pesticide without customs procedures or presentation to inspection and sanitation authorities.
The statement confirmed that this act caused environmental risks due to the unsafe disposal of the pesticide, and that safe disposal is highly costly.
