Qatar’s economy grew by 2.9% in the third quarter of this year compared to the same period in 2024, driven by a 4.4% growth in the non-hydrocarbon sector (outside oil and gas), according to data issued by the National Planning Council on Sunday.

According to the data, the estimated Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the third quarter of 2025 reached 186.1 billion riyals (51 billion US dollars) at constant prices, compared to 180.9 billion riyals (49.62 billion US dollars) in the third quarter of 2024.

The GDP was 181.8 billion riyals in the second quarter and 183.6 billion riyals in the first quarter of this year.

Non-hydrocarbon (non-oil) activities constituted a 65.5% share of the real GDP, with their added value reaching 121.9 billion riyals (33.43 billion US dollars) in the third quarter of 2025, compared to 116.8 billion riyals (32 billion US dollars) in the third quarter of 2024, representing an annual increase of 4.4%.

Construction activity, wholesale and retail trade, and accommodation and food service activities were the fastest-growing within the non-hydrocarbon economy on an annual basis, at 9.1%, 8.9%, and 6.4% respectively.

It was emphasized that these results reflect “the robustness of the Qatari economy and the continuity of the economic diversification path, achieving real growth driven by the strong performance of non-hydrocarbon activities.”

It was stated, “This performance confirms the success of economic and developmental policies in enhancing the contribution of productive and service sectors, in line with the targets of the Third National Development Strategy, and strengthens the national economy’s ability to achieve sustainable and balanced growth in the medium and long term.”

The World Bank expects the Qatari economy to record growth of 2.4% during 2025, with the growth rate rising to 5.4% in 2026.
