Fines imposed by the German Football Association during the 2024-2025 season have exceeded the 12 million euro mark. The main reason for these fines is the use of prohibited fireworks in German Bundesliga matches, according to a statement published by the association on Thursday.
The statement from the German Football Association said this amount is slightly less than the value of fines imposed on clubs in the top three divisions in the 2023-2024 season, which amounted to 12.5 million euros.
Cologne tops the sanctions list
According to data from the German Football Association, Cologne is the most fined club, with a total of 924,355 euros, followed by Eintracht Frankfurt with 764,600 euros, and then Hamburg, which paid 623,555 euros.
Cologne and Hamburg were playing in the second division last season.
The German third division saw a total increase in fines from 1.5 million euros to 2.24 million euros in the 2024-2025 season, led by Dynamo Dresden with a fine of 238,460 euros.
