He simply wrote the phrase “Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return” on his Instagram account. These words received an immediate response from the sports community, as football institutions and fans expressed their condolences to the player, who is known for his close ties to his family members.

Official condolences were also published and addressed to Ziyech and his family.
