
On Thursday, the United States women’s team defeated the defending champion Canadian team 2-1 in overtime to win the gold medal in the ice hockey competition at the Milan-Cortina Games.
This is the first gold medal for the U.S. women’s team since the 2018 PyeongChang Games.
The U.S. women’s ice hockey team had previously won Olympic gold twice, in 1998 and 2018, while the Canadian team won the gold medal at the last Games.
