American Breezy Johnson secured her first Olympic title in her second Games appearance, after winning the downhill gold on Sunday at the Milan-Cortina Olympics, which also saw a horrific crash by her compatriot Lindsey Vonn in the same race.
After a disappointing first participation in 2018 where she placed 14th in the Super-G and seventh in the downhill, Johnson, 30, confirmed that her crowning as world champion in downhill last year was no fluke, edging out Germany’s Emma Aicher by a narrow margin of 0.04 seconds on Sunday. Italy’s Sofia Goggia came in third, 0.59 seconds behind.
